Dr. P. Vijaya Kumar is a Senior Consultant, General, Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgeon at Apollo Spectra Hospitals, Chennai. He specialises in minimally invasive surgeries performed through keyhole incisions or LASER / RF pricks — known for near-painless procedures, FAST-TRACK recovery and exceptional pre- and post-operative patient care.
With 25 years in medicine and 20 years of surgical experience, he has performed over 5,000+ surgeries — including laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repair, appendicectomy, colorectal and gynaecological surgeries, LASER treatment for piles, fissures, fistulas and pilonidal sinus, and RF ablation for varicose veins.
He completed his DNB in General Surgery at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai and MBBS from Sri Venkateshwara Medical College, Tirupati. He received laparoscopic training at AIIMS, New Delhi and holds fellowships from World Laparoscopic Hospital, Gurgaon in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, Robotic Surgery and Advanced Hernia Surgery, along with hands-on training in Endovenous Thermal Ablation for varicose veins. He is a Fellow of the Association of Surgeons of India (FAIS) and IAGES (FALS – Robotics), and is affiliated with ASI and the Abdominal Wall Reconstruction (AWR) society.
